"Jewel Heist in Westerville: Victim Fires At Fleeing Robbers"

So, I had this lovely blog all planned out in my head, but, because there are currently only 12 minutes left in the day, I'm going to have to frantically share what I just witnessed.

This evening, my college sponsored a free movie night, where they rent out an entire theatre, and then students of Otterbein get in for free. Fantastic, I know, right? Anyway, my pal Caroline and I headed out, and on our way, we drove past a crazy police-ridden Fazoli's parking lot, that was packed to the brim with flashing lights and caution tape. We briefly discussed this area, and upon seeing a car with destroyed windows, we assumed it had been a car robbery. After looking closer, the windows of the car were far too mutilated to have been simply smashed, and I mentioned that it could have been a shooting. We continued down the street, and arrived at the theatre. The movie we saw was "12 Rounds." I hadn't heard of it before, but I sincerely recommend it to anyone who enjoys action, or movies, for that matter. In. Tense. After the film concluded 2 hours later, we returned to our car, and headed back to campus. As we passed the Fazoli's from the other direction, the police were still there, and it was still very chaotic.

Once I returned to my dorm, I searched for my little town on Google News, and sure enough, there were several results.

This is a crazy story, and I can't explain it well enough, so I'll link to the article.

The robbers got away, only minutes before we drove by the first time. After seeing "12 Rounds," which is chocked-full of car chases and accidents, it was quite nerve wracking to think about what had just happened no more than 5 blocks away from my school. Craaaazy.

If there's more information, I'll blog it tomorrow. Stay safe, folks. (And, you know, don't steal jewels. Or anything. Don't steal.)

later days.
